Vespers at Lourdes is a substantial encounter with the Living God–experienced primarily in Eucharistic adoration, chanted psalms, and profound silence – supplemented by intellectual formation and fraternal merrymaking that is worthy of the demanding schedule of thriving young professionals of the Twin Cities. We offer a solemn, authentic, and professional environment for young Catholics to grow in Faith and Fellowship.

Next Vespers

We are excited to kick off our spring semester of Vespers by welcoming back our esteemed guest, Archbishop Hebda! Since joining the Archdiocese of Minneapolis St. Paul in 2016, His Excellency has been an ardent supporter of Vespers at Lourdes, and we are blessed that he is able to join us for our February 11th event.

Please sign up ahead of time to reserve your spot

Confessions will be available beginning at 6:30 PM outside the parish office (please line up on the main church steps to await your turn). Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and solemn vespers will begin at 7:00 PM led by Archbishop Hebda, who will also share a sermon. While no formal social gathering is scheduled, fellowship is encouraged for those interested. A group will be headed to Pryes Brewery following the event.

Archbishop Hebda hails originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, attended Harvard University for his undergraduate degree in Political Science, and later earned a law degree from Columbia University. His esteem and admiration for young adults stems from receiving his own vocation, a call to the priesthood, during his young adult years.

Business casual dress is kindly requested. Attendees should be aged 21-35 years. Attendance is free of charge, but a $5 donation is encouraged to help offset our costs and ensure future events.

The History of Vespers at Lourdes

Vespers has been able to continue for many years due to a major outpouring of grace by the Holy Spirit, the support of Our Lady of Lourdes, and the efforts of many dedicated men and women. If you are interested in getting involved in helping plan Vespers or want to sign in the choir, please contact us.

In an order to respond to the call to evangelize both those in and out of the Church, a group of young professionals in Minneapolis gathered together at Our Lady of Lourdes parish. This young adults group knew first and foremost that in the chaos of our world’s technology and advertisements surrounding us at every turn, an organized opportunity to gather as a group in silence to pray was of immense importance. Secondly, recognizing that if the faith is to be something more than an emotional feeling that is communicated to others, it needs to be rooted in the mind.

This night needed to be a substantial encounter with Truth that is worthy of the precious time of a young adult who is pressed with the commitments of work and family.
