Vespers at Lourdes is a substantial encounter with the Living God–experienced primarily in Eucharistic adoration, chanted psalms, and profound silence – supplemented by intellectual formation and fraternal merrymaking that is worthy of the demanding schedule of thriving young professionals of the Twin Cities. We offer a solemn, authentic, and professional environment for young Catholics to grow in Faith and Fellowship.

Next Vespers

Young adults are invited to an evening of prayer, fellowship, and sharing of wisdom with Nataleigh Waters-Lang on Thursday, October 8th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Please sign up ahead of time if you plan on attending

Confessions will be available beginning at 7:00 PM outside the church at the Mary garden. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and solemn vespers will begin at 7:30 PM, followed by silent Adoration and a presentation by Nataleigh Waters-Lang, who will speak on Edith Stein’s Thought on the Professional Life of Men and Women. Then the program will move to the outdoor courtyard for hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and fellowship.


Nataleigh Waters-Lang is from Denver, Colorado. She studied Philosophy at St. Thomas and in Poland where Pope John Paul II taught. She worked in college ministry for over 4 years at the first Newman Center in the U.S., as well as locally at Anselm House. Now Nataleigh is a full time grad student in Catholic Studies. She keeps trying to leave Minnesota, but always seems to find her way back!

Business casual dress is kindly requested (be sure to bundle up as we will be outside for part of the event). Attendees should be aged 21-35 years. Attendance is free of charge, but a $5 donation is encouraged to help offset our costs and ensure future events.

About Vespers at Lourdes

Vespers at Lourdes provides a place for solemn evening prayer, Adoration, reflection, and fellowship for the young professional Catholic in the Twin Cities. Our talks feature Catholic leaders from all backgrounds, careers, and experiences in the Twin Cities.

We meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month at Our Lady of Lourdes in NE Minneapolis. Adoration, night prayer, and confessions start in the main body of the church, with fellowship and a reflection in the gathering space in the basement.

The Vespers at Lourdes planning committee kindly requests that all attendees be 21 years of age or older. Expected dress is business casual.

7:00pm - Confessions begin
7:30pm - Chanted Evening Prayer
8:30pm - Hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, fellowship, and presentation*

* During the summer, we don't have a speaker. Instead we go to a local bar or restaurant for fellowship

Parking

Parking in Northeast can be a little tricky. We offer 2 hour vouchers for the parking ramp that is immediately to the east of Lourdes. You can also park on the street, but please remember your meter!

The History of Vespers at Lourdes

Vespers has been able to continue for many years due to a major outpouring of grace by the Holy Spirit, the support of Our Lady of Lourdes, and the efforts of many dedicated men and women. If you are interested in getting involved in helping plan Vespers or want to sign in the choir, please contact us.

In an order to respond to the call to evangelize both those in and out of the Church, a group of young professionals in Minneapolis gathered together at Our Lady of Lourdes parish. This young adults group knew first and foremost that in the chaos of our world’s technology and advertisements surrounding us at every turn, an organized opportunity to gather as a group in silence to pray was of immense importance. Secondly, recognizing that if the faith is to be something more than an emotional feeling that is communicated to others, it needs to be rooted in the mind.

This night needed to be a substantial encounter with Truth that is worthy of the precious time of a young adult who is pressed with the commitments of work and family.
